Cosmetology

1650 clock hours

Students enrolled in this training program will develop skills in haircutting, styling, and braiding in addition to hair coloring, lightening, color weaving, permanent waving, and chemical/thermal straightening. Students also learn the benefits of proper skin care, eyelash extensions and treatment—recognizing skin diseases and disorders. Students learn about a variety of products and techniques for maintaining healthy hair and scalp, nails, and pedicure care.

Nail Technology

600 clock hours

This program offers an emphasis on nail technology. Students will learn general salon practices, nail care, application technique, and safety and sanitation regulations. Students specialize in hand and foot care, acrylic and builder gel nail extensions, and nail repairs, developing skills in nail art and nail jewelry.

Esthetics - 750 clock hours

Students enrolled in the Esthetics course will study facials, body treatments, hair removal, eyelash services - including tints, lifts, and extensions - makeup application, and an understanding of skin conditions and treatments. Students will gain hands-on experience with industry-standard tools and products, as well as learn the latest techniques in skincare and beauty enhancements.

Career as a Licensed Instructor – 600 Clock hours

Licensed Cosmetology, Nail Technology, and Esthetician practitioners are eligible to enroll in the instructor training course. Instructor trainees learn how to prepare lesson plans, develop proper teaching methods and techniques, effectively using audio and visual aids, present lecture and laboratory classes, prepare and administer written and practical tests, and create and maintain a positive learning environment.

Administrative Coursework

Included in all courses

All of the courses include training in sanitary shop practices, salon record keeping, public relations, retailing, cosmetic chemistry, practical electricity, cosmetology laws, shop management, payroll and taxes.

Beginning classes are scheduled each month. If interested in attending, please contact the admissions office for assistance in completing the necessary enrollment and/or financial aid applications or stop in, orientations held every Thursday at 2:00pm, no appointment needed.

Class Schedules

Stylemasters College of Hair Design is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. Both full-time and reduced hours attendance schedules are available.

How Long Does Each Course Take?

The schedule a student chooses will determine how long the training program selected will take to complete. The following are estimates:
Cosmetology – 54 weeks
Nail Technology – 20 weeks
Esthetics - 24 weeks
Instructor Training – 20 weeks
